Cocomaya Beach Club
Cocomaya is a must-visit dining destination in the Virgin Islands. Renowned for its asian-fusion cuisine by Chef Jimi, Cocomaya offers delicious food, and drinks amongst Virgin Gorda’s famous boulder lined beaches. Hide away in a balinese inspired beachside nook surrounded by lush greenery, or dance into the sunset to the tropical sounds of resident DJ Berr.
Must-try dishes include their Dragon Board - an indulgent chef’s selection of fresh sashimi, nigiri, and sushi rolls. For the young at heart, the dessert menu delivers on nostalgia, with a shared plate of s'mores that can be ordered to roast over the fire pit. Finish with the perfect post-dining apéritif, the Smoke and Mirrors Mezcal cocktail.
We recommend visiting on a Friday night after a day at The Baths for a refreshing drink, and some sunset sushi to start the weekend off on a strong note.
Stay: Cocomaya is located on the Southeast end of Virgin Gorda, we recommend staying at Rosewood Little Dix Bay nearby.
Hendo’s Hideout
White Bay on Jost Van Dyke is lined with beach clubs waiting to serve up the next order of British Virgin Island’s infamous Painkiller cocktail, Hendo’s standouts on for its warm, welcoming staff, and fresh seafood.
Come here for the soft white sand and crystal clear water, but stay for the good vibes, and friendly faces. This is the perfect spot to park up, and spend the day making new friends over some Pusser’s rum cocktails, and a fierce game of cornhole.
If you’re staying on Jost Van Dyk or anchoring in the bay, we recommend coming here on a Friday night for their beach flix and chill nights where they host a weekly outdoor movie screening.
Stay: Hendo’s Hideout is part of the luxury boutique resort The Hideout in White Bay. With only seven villas, this resort is an intimate, relaxing escape.
Saba Rock
With a detailed history that spans back into the 1960’s, Saba Rock is more than a beach club; it’s part of BVI’s heritage. Saba Rock evolved from diving pioneer Herbert “Bert” Kilbride, infamous Pirates Pub, now Saba Rock, a destination resort for scuba enthusiasts. This well-loved sailing stop, filled with sounds of salty tales, remains a testament to the Caribbean’s golden era.
Saba Rock isn’t just for sipping freshly made Mai Tais and Palomas (though we highly recommend it). It’s a kiteboarder's paradise, offering some of the world’s best conditions for kiteboarding and windsurfing. And if spending a day windsurfing is not quite your style, Saba Rock’s onsite spa is open for massages, body wraps, reiki healing therapy, and sound baths.
We recommend heading to Saba Rock’s Sunset Bar, for Saturday’s happy hour, when DJ Vegas spins tropical tunes and you can watch the sunset while tucking into Caribbean classics like conch salad.
Stay: Saba Rock is an ideal overnight stop for boaties with the option to dock overnight or stay in one of the nine guests rooms.
Long Bay Beach Resort
The beach club at Long Bay Beach Resort has a prime position on the picturesque Long Bay in Tortola. Sitting in the middle of a calm beach surrounded by mountain peaks and island views, Long Bay resort’s sunny beachfront bar gets just the right amount of seabreeze for you to comfortably spend all day soaking up the views.
The heart of any beach club is its cuisine, at Long Bay it’s the stylish 1748 Restaurant, housed within an 18th-century rum distillery, serving Caribbean-inspired comfort dishes like baby-back rib buddha bowls.
On Thursdays and Sundays, the beach transforms into an outdoor yoga studio, where you can join fellow yogis for a sunrise session on the sand.
For those who plan to extend their stay, the resort offers a Long Bay Beach Club Membership programme. This includes access to the pool, state of the art gym, tennis and pickleball courts, and spa.
Patricia’s Beach Bar at Smugglers Cove
Patricia’s is an unassuming beach bar on Smugglers cove serving up authentic barrel smoked ribs and jerk chicken. The beers are chilled and the coconuts are fresh. We loved coming here on our first day in the British Virgin Island’s for that quintessential Caribbean laid back beach vibe.
They also have snorkel gear and sun umbrellas, and loungers available for rent, so you can sit back and relax to the sound of swaying palms while sipping on an ice cold Carib beer.
