La Veleta

La Veleta is an up-and-coming neighborhood located on the south and west side of Tulum town. This area is attracting a growing number of visitors and ex-pats alike, thanks to its laid-back vibe and sense of community.

Why Choose La Veleta? La Veleta offers a unique jungle atmosphere, with a hippie vibe. It’s a great place to stay for those looking to experience Tulum’s local culture while enjoying the comforts of boutique hotels and luxury villas.

The neighborhood has a thriving wellness scene, with many yoga retreats, fitness centers and vegan cafes. It’s a great location for families or groups wanting affordable private villa rental. With recent improvements to roading (they are still pretty bad though!) there’s easier access to the beach.

While many of the villas claim that it’s possible to ride a bike to the beach, you’ll find driving there is a much better option. You’ll feel that deep sense of smug satisfaction as you drive by exhausted tourists, beading with sweat, that have given up on their bike halfway there.
