Bora bora island and private motu

Bora Bora is one of the most beautiful and romantic destinations in the world, and a dream come true for many travelers. The island, located in French Polynesia, is surrounded by a stunning turquoise lagoon and a coral reef and is dominated by the majestic Mount Otemanu. Bora Bora is also home to some of the most luxurious and exclusive resorts in the South Pacific, offering spacious and elegant villas, some of which are overwater and some of which are on land.

Whether you are looking for a relaxing getaway, an adventurous vacation, or a cultural immersion, Bora Bora has something for everyone.

But how do you plan the perfect week in Bora Bora? How do you choose between the different resorts, activities, and attractions? How do you make the most of your time and money in this paradise?

Don’t worry, we’ve got you covered. We’ve created a 7-day luxury itinerary for Bora Bora that will show you the best of the island and its lagoon. We’ve also included some tips and tricks that will help you enjoy your stay even more.

Here’s how to spend a week in Bora Bora:

Hilton Tahiti Pool

Day 1: Arrive in Tahiti and stay at the Hilton Tahiti Resort

Your journey to Bora Bora starts in Tahiti, the largest and most populous island in French Polynesia. Tahiti is also where the international airport is located, so you will need to fly there first before taking a short flight to Bora Bora. Depending on your flight schedule, you might want to spend a night or two in Tahiti to explore the island and adjust to the time zone.

For your accommodation in Tahiti, we recommend staying at the Hilton Tahiti Resort, which is only 5 minutes away from the airport. The resort offers spacious and modern rooms and suites, which feature balconies with views of the lagoon or the garden. The resort also has a variety of facilities and services, such as an outdoor pool, a spa, a fitness center, a private beach, and several dining options.

After checking in to your room or suite, you can relax and unwind at the resort’s facilities, or explore the nearby attractions. If you want to try some local street food, head to the roulottes (food trucks) at the Place Vaiete, which is a short walk from the resort. You can find a variety of dishes, such as crepes, pizza, burgers, chow mein, and grilled fish. The roulottes are open from 6 pm to 11 pm every night, except on Sundays.

For a bit of post-flight recovery, head to the gym at the Hilton for a sweat session, or book in for a massage with the therapists at the on-site spa. Alternatively, you can catch a short taxi into Papeete town to see the markets and pearl shops.

In the evening, have dinner at San Sushi Restaurant, which is located at the resort. San Sushi offers a selection of sushi, sashimi, nigiri, and other Japanese dishes, made with fresh fish and local ingredients.

Tip: See if the chef will make you some off-menu items, they are to die for.

Day 2: Fly to Bora Bora and check in to the Four Seasons Resort Bora Bora

After breakfast, take a short flight from Tahiti to Bora Bora and enjoy the stunning views of islands and lagoons from the air.

Tip: If you want to see some jaw-dropping views of Bora Bora and its lagoon, make sure to sit on the left side of the plane during your flight to Bora Bora. You will have a spectacular view of the island as your flight descends for landing.

Upon arrival, you will be greeted by Four Seasons staff and escorted to a private boat that will take you to the resort.

The Four Seasons Resort Bora Bora is one of the most popular resorts on the island. The resort offers elegant villas, including the iconic overwater bungalows. If you’re going to splash out on an overwater bungalow, this is the place. Each villa features a private pool,  a glass panel floor, and a large king-size bed.

The resort also has a variety of amenities and services, such as an inner lagoon sanctuary, where you can learn about marine life conservation.

After checking into your villa, spend the rest of the day relaxing and enjoying the resort's amenities and services. You can also watch the sunset over Mount Otemanu at the bar at Viamiti. This is the most spectacular sunset view, we recommend trying a locally made vanilla rum while taking in the Mount Otemanu views. They also have delicious sushi and sashimi here for a casual dinner.

Day 3: Enjoy a helicopter tour and an island night at the Four Seasons Resort Bora Bora

After breakfast, jump on a private helicopter tour.  This flight will give you a must-see bird’s eye view of Bora Bora, and its lagoon. You will get to see the whole island, and fly over motus and coral reefs. An idyllic way to see the beauty and diversity of the island. You will also have a chance to land on a private motu and enjoy a champagne toast.

After the tour, return to your resort and enjoy some free time. You can relax by the pool, take a nap in your villa, or try some water sports equipment, such as kayaks, paddle boards, snorkels, or bikes.

In the evening, join island night at the resort's beachfront restaurant, where you can enjoy a buffet of local specialties, such as poisson cru, grilled fish, coconut rice, and tropical fruits. You will also get to see a traditional Polynesian show, featuring fire dancers and local performers.

Day 4: Check out from the Four Seasons Resort Bora Bora and check in to the Conrad Bora Bora Nui

After breakfast, check out from Four Seasons Resort Bora Bora and take a boat transfer to Conrad Bora Bora Nui, which is located on a private motu on the Southwest side of the lagoon. Conrad Bora Bora Nui is another stunning resort on Bora Bora with overwater bungalows, and it’s part of the Hilton Honors program. The resort offers luxurious villas, some of which are overwater and some of which are on land looking out to the lagoon.

The resort also has a variety of amenities and services, including a pristine white sand private beach, where you can swim or sunbathe. The spa at Conrad Bora Bora is one of our favorites on the island, where you can indulge in relaxing treatments using the famous Biologique Recherche range.

After checking into your villa, spend the rest of the day relaxing and enjoying the resort's amenities.

If you’re up for some adventure we recommend taking a private excursion to swim with sharks or manta rays. The tour will take you to some of the most scenic spots in the lagoon. You will board a comfortable boat and cruise along turquoise water, admiring views of Mount Otemanu and surrounding motus. You will stop at several locations where you can snorkel with blacktip reef sharks or manta rays, which are harmless and friendly. You'll be amazed by their grace and beauty as they swim around you.

Tip: If you want to enjoy some privacy and tranquility, you can book a private motu picnic with your resort. You will be taken to a secluded motu (islet) in the lagoon, where you can relax on the beach, swim in the water, or snorkel with the fish. You will also enjoy a delicious picnic lunch prepared by your resort’s chef, featuring fresh seafood and local ingredients. You can also request some champagne or wine to make your picnic more romantic.

There are a variety of services, such as massages, facials, body wraps, and manicures. You can also enjoy the traditional sauna, the steam room, and the relaxation lounge.

After the spa, check out from Conrad Bora Bora Nui and take a boat transfer to St. Regis Bora Bora Resort, which is located on a secluded motu on the eastern side of the lagoon.

The St. Regis Bora Bora Resort is one of the most exclusive resorts on the island and part of Marriott Bonvoy program. We recommend a beachfront villa, which offers privacy and seclusion. The beachfront villas have their own private plunge pool, and a large outdoor sun-lounging area. You also have access to a 24-hour butler service that can assist you with any request or need.

The restaurant is located on a pontoon overwater and offers stunning views of Mount Otemanu. The menu features creative dishes using fresh seafood and local ingredients. Pearls are one of the most precious and beautiful products of French Polynesia, and they come in different colors, shapes, and sizes. You can find pearls in jewelry, such as earrings, necklaces, bracelets, or rings. You can also buy loose pearls and have them set in your own design.
