What to Know About Tulum Beach Clubs Before You Go

Located in Mexico, facing the Caribbean sea is Tulum. A bohemian paradise built along the turquoise waters of the Riveria Maya, with white-sand beaches lined by boutique hotels. Many of the most popular day clubs along Tulum's hotel zone play host to events throughout the week. An eclectic array of events offers something for everyone, from live music like jazz being played above the treetops to international DJs on the beach playing house music into the early hours.

Almost all of the day clubs can be found along the main Tulum beach road, amongst the hotels. This long stretch of beach is about 10 minutes from Tulum Centro. While seemingly close to the Downtown area, it is regularly plagued by traffic issues. If you are traveling here by car, make sure you factor in up to 30 minutes of travel time.

Some points to note for planning your day:

  1. The beach is surprisingly sprawling, it takes about 2 hours to walk from end to end

  2. Taxis are expensive in the beach zone, they can cost up to 600 pesos to go from Playa Paraiso to the middle beach zone

  3. Having an entrance fee or minimum spend is very common at Tulum beach clubs and bars, usually, the minimum spend ranges from $50 USD to $100 USD but can be used to buy food and drinks at the venue.

  4. There is a seaweed season that might impact the beaches from March - September, if you go over this period we recommend opting for a day club with a pool

  5. There are dress codes at some of the beach clubs, check the club's website prior to arriving. Or read our article for outfit ideas - Tulum packing list, so you can arrive at the beach clubs in style.

They also reserve many of the loungers for hotel guests.

Tantra Beach Club Tulum Mexico

Tantra Day Club

7. Tantra Luxury Day Club

At the other end of the beach club spectrum from Ziggy’s, is Tantra by Grupo Rosanegra. This is one of Tulum's busiest beach clubs. Filled with scantily clad, debaucherous crowds celebrating stag, hens, or just making it through last night's bender. Whatever the occasion, the crowd at Tantra is a convivial one. If you are planning on a party, we recommend booking a Poolside Cabana or Beach Cabana and securing bottle service in advance so you can skip the lines at the door and the bar.

Tantra is connected to it’s sister venue Taboo, but we prefer the aesthetic and layout of Tantra with it’s shaded bohemian chic restaurant offering, numerous dip pools cascading down to the beach, as well as their wide array of loungers and day beds offered.  Come to Tantra prepared to sip champagne bottles surrounded by sparklers and dance your way into the evening.
